There IS a tongue weight that presses down on the rear of the car that must
be added to the total trailer weight.
I would park the trailer on the scale so the tongue jack could also be on the
scale and move the vehicle a few feet away from the trailer. If the trailer
won't
fit on the scale, then weigh just the tongue by putting just the tongue jack
on
the scale. Add the two weights of the trailer and the tongue for the total
trailer weight - with or without a boat.
