if anyone has leaky pivot caps like I used to, I was able to
completely fix mine - no leakage anywhere now. There are sort of
two sides of gasketing on those things. On on side of the metal plate
is the paper gasket. On the other side is the rectangular cork
gasket, and an O ring. I think most of leakage happens on the
cork / O ring side. If you look close, the whole design relies on
about 1/32 of "squish down" sealing of the cork and o ring when the
bolts are tight. Not likely to seal. So all I did was gets some
fatter cork and a fatter O ring. Cork was just slightly thicker
than OEM gasket. Used it to trace/cut a new one. Then got a
fatter O ring at Lowes for about $1. It was just slightly smaller
diameter so I heated it up with a heat gun and stretched it just a
tad. Installed and tightened bolts - No more leaks.
