Thanks, BreAnne.  I get cautious anytime I see blantant copyright violations like that so I appreciate the back-up.  What you say makes a lot of sense -- I just re-read the ad and it says "on cd," not "multiple cds."  S canning a document that big onto 1 cd would mean the resolution has to be really low .  I'll have to try checking out the flea markets too -- thanks for the suggestion.

 that manual scam happens alot, I had one that I could read because it was so blurry. I ended up finding several manuals at my local flea market... Got lucky i guess.

Get all three primary service manuals (and SOON!, No new OMC owner should put-in without one):

Original OMC Sterndrive Service manual from 1964 - 1977  (hard to find but they do appear on eBay)
(Note: a single edition covered all engines -- you will find it almost impossible to narrow down to the exact year covering the 200 hp Buick 300 as they were only offered 2 or 3 model years, but all the other sterndrive related materials will be close.)

SELOC MANUAL covers 1964 -1985 OMC "Stringer" Sterndrives. These are easily available, I'd check Amazon.com for new or used copies.

CLYMER MANUAL again focus on the 1964 - 1985 edition.

Highly recommend you get all three. If you can only ever get one, my favorite is the OMC, followed by the SELOC, followed by the CLYMER.

Also, you haven't asked about getting the oil back in. DON"T OVERFILL. I also noticed in one of the pictures of the the Buick-powered Surfers that you may want to Flip-Flop your valve covers to make the oil cap more accessible at the front of the valve cover, rather than the back where it interferes with the engine hood. Or just get a long funnel or pouring tube.

As far as your oil change goes I think there are 3 common methods I hear about here.

High tech, oil extractor pump through the dipstick hole...pretty cool

Medium tech, install a valve on your drain plug, run a tube up to the valve through the plug hole in the transom and drain the oil right into any oil catcher on the outside of the boat, this has advantages for tranfering the oil and recycling too, also cool

Low Tech, line your bilge with a good thick mil garbage bag drain the oil into that then figure out what to do with the bag before it leaks all over the place. This method is not so cool, cramped spaces and LOTS of potential for a big mess, This is the one I have used for years, Highly recommend either of the other methods
