I'm new to this group, and Phil asked that I introduce myself.
I live in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, and do all of my boating at our
cottage north of Toronto in Muskoka.
I have been interested in boats for many years, starting as a young boy
'souping-up' my Dad's old 12' fishing boat, through the hydroplane stage,
and into the cruiser stage. Now, I'm into the classic boat stage (fiberglass
only, so far).
I have owned and restored 2 OMC Deluxes to date. The first was a 1964
Johnson Deluxe (teal color) 88HP, and the second (which I still, and will
always, have) is a 1965 Evinrude Deluxe (light blue color) with the 150 HP
V6 Buick.
As well, I have recently become an avid classic Glastron fan, and I am
currently restoring a 1979 CVX18. Champagne metalflake in color with a 350
CID Mercruiser. Very pretty, and very fast (62 mph on GPS).
I am currently experimenting with the OMC, and have installed a 4bbl
Weiand intake manifold with a 390CFM Holley on the V6 Buick. I haven't run
it yet, but will keep you posted. For all the 'purists' out there, I always
keep the original parts and I DO NOT cut, drill, or in any way change the
original boat. This way, I can always put it back to bone-stock
original....and that's the only way to maintain it's value. If anyone has
done this modification I would be interested in hearing from them.
Also, I'm in desperate need of a starboard front green light....the
corner of a dock recently took a piece out of mine. Any help or info would
be appreciated.
