at one point i replaced mine (155 buick) for the same reason. went
to napa, ordered something from a mitsubishi or something. i know i
know, not marine, very forbidden. but bypassed the stock fuel pump
and re-routed to the new one which i mounted just outside the engine
compartment. and yes, it worked great. ended up changing engines
recently though and am back to a stock one.
