Ted,
When I had my 70 Seasport, mine were attached with those automotive plastic pushscrew things, not sure what they're called. I just pryed them out with a large screwdriver. It should be ok, the backer is solid plywood. I wish I still had my boat......you're a lucky guy.

Subject: [OMC-Boats] 1970 16' Johnson Seasport
I am in the process of cleaning and polishing the interior fiberglass of my recently purchased Seaport.
The rear seat cushions on each side of the engine compartment were easy to remove, but I cannot seem to figure out how to remove the back cushions.
I tried lifting up slightly and pulling out,but to no avail.
I am sure there is a trick to it,so I am asking for the answer to that trick.
I did not want to apply to much pressure and break something as the seats are original and still have some life left before reupholster time.
I cannot see behind the seats because of the flotation foam.
Thanks in advance
