Here's a better picture showing the electric tilt mechanics on the port side (Electric Motor, shaft, hammer-blow coupling, and circular clutch housing all had to fit thru the transom hole, inside the rubber boot, hence the weird offset.)
This the early OMC "DU" V4 2-stroke prototype which became the 480 and was latter up-rated to 88 and then 90 hp. The edge of the rubber boot flange is visible in this photo.
All OMC stringers could tilt 75 degrees due to this innovative design.
