Mounting anything of weight (ladders, motor mounts, trim tabs) on the "thin-skin" transom of an I/O Evinrude will most likely require an internal load-bearing backup plate. Then there's the challenge of finding the space.
I'd look for one of the articulated kicker mounts that permits raising and lowering like the one OMC used to make:

Just about finished restoring a 1965 'Rude Sweet-16 and I would like to install a 5hp kicker on the transom for those "just-in-case" moments. It's an 88hp in-board. I have seen pictures of the same but for the life of me I cannot figure out how it was securely mounted. Any ideas out there? or close-up pictures, or better yet name and address of someone in the Houston, TX., area that knows how to make one. Thanks.
