Hi,
According to info that I have researched and made available on my
website:
http://hhscott.com/evinrude/all_omc_boats.htm
You are the proud owner of a:
1964 17 Johnson 134101 E SeaSport 110 I/O
You boat is/was powered by the GM-Chevy II inline four cylinder which
is 2/3's of the Chevy inline six, and both are reliable, easy to
service engines. Your engine was so economical and reliable it was
used in Jeep-based US Mail delivery vehicles in the seventies.
OMC even used it in their largest 19-ft hulls, as the basis for an
economical, no-frills sport fishing boat.
These 17-foot boats were initially introduced as the OMC brand in 1962
- 1963. When the smaller 16-foot model was added the parent Outboard
Marine Corporation provided the 17-ft'ers to their existing Johnson
dealers and the 16-ft'ers exclusively to Evinrude dealers.
Johnson and Evinrude were well-known household brands with great
dealer networks, while OMC was not. Who knows what they were thinking,
but at least they corrected the errors of their ways.
By 1966 OMC had decided to focus strictly on sterndrive powered boats.
In 1966 they still offered the 17-ft, but from 1967 to 1970 Johnson
and Evinrude lines shared the same hulls in 14, 16 an 19 ft variants.
