JD and others,
The challenge finally got to me, so.....
Let me help teach you all how I research stuff (it's really very easy):
It really helps to have OMC/BRP part numbers and many of these are displayed in several sources online. It can also help if you purchase your factory part manuals, especially if you own pre-1968 OMC boats.
These factory manuals often appear on eBay and worth the asking price, IMHO.
1) I finally got out my 1964 OMC HU-12M (the 150 hp Buick V6) Parts manual (buried deep in my garage).
In the COOLING AND OIL GROUP DRAWING PAGE; I looked up and found Drawing Reference Number 83: SWITCH, Oil Pressure, OMC Part Number 1359288.
And also just for kicks lets note that Drawing Reference Number 23: SWITCH, Water Temperature, OMC Part Number 379756.
2) Let's try searching GOOGLE for OMC Part No 1359288
http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=OMC+part+no+1359288&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
Anyone else spot the match in the fourth entry down?
http://www.taromfg.com/catalog/Section3.pdf
Then simply search the PDF for 1359288
Bingo: Our result appears on page 18:
TARO MFG PART NO.: ( see: http://www.taromfg.com/ )
OS3-826
SPECIFICATIONS:
¼ x 18 DRYSEAL THREAD
3-9 PSI, NORMALLY CLOSED
(CROSS_REFERENCES TO:)
941968, 4379037, E0ZZ9278A, 1350116, 1359288, 1370748, 14035122, 14103175, 1469790, 1480667, 1508648, 1508767, 1619641, 5653462
BUICK 62-81
CADILLAC 58-74, 76-84
DODGE 87-88
DODGE LIGHT TURCKS 87-88
FORD 80-81
GM LIGHT TRUCKS 82-89
JEEP 62-73
MERCURY 79-80
OLDSMOBILE 64-65
76 PLYMOUTH 87-88
PONTIAC 75-76, 78-80
So any PepBoys, NAPA, AutoZone, etc should be able to give you one of these exact replacements, probably cheaper than any marine supplier. You just gotta know how to ask for the right application.
Just remember, With NON-MARINE automotive parts your V6 was used by Buick from 1964-1967 and Kaiser Jeep from 1967-1973. (some parts interchange with the 62-64 Buick 215 V8 and 62-64 Buick 196 V6)
Hope this helps JD and everyone else. Wasn't that EZ and FUN?
Lee

Subject: [OMC-Boats] oil sender
anyone know where i can get an oil pressure sending unit for a '64
Buick 155? I've looked at boats.net and marineparts.com. Boats
shows the unit in their diagrams as #62 but then the legend below
stops at #56! (grrrr). Marine parts shows a couple but i have no
idea which one is correct. I found an OMC # of 1370748.....i think
from a '68 but should work. But googling that does nothing.
Napa? Thanks!
