I'm confused. What you are referring to is the idle mixture screws on
the bottom of the carb. (I think). The actual idle adjust screw is the
one on the port side towards the back of the carb. You can see it in
figure 16 in this link

So you're adjusting the idle with the mixture screws? Where are you
leaving the idle screw?
