I think you tilt the non-functioning unit up and keep going. At least you have a second power unit to keep going. Speaking as someone who has waved a paddle madly back and forth in a dead Sportsman about three miles from shore in Lake Michigan (help me!), before the days of cellphones, a second power unit would probably be a plus...
But I get your point. If one engine quit while underway, would it wreck anything or just pull the boat to the side?
