Gosh....go away for a week and I have 35 emails from the group when the previous week I only had a couple. go figure.
I had similar performance problems problems. Part of it was caused by a dirty carb, part by dirty gas and tank, and part by screwed up wiring. I replaced just about everything until I figured out the wiring was not right and the alternator, while wired correctly at the alternator and rebulator, it was not wired from the engine harness to the front of the boat. Jeesh.
By the time I figured it out, I pretty much cleaned, rebuilt, or replaced all the related paraphernalia related to a good running boat. As soon as I redid the wiring all my problems seemed to go away and now she runs like a champ. Next year I might shoot for the Pertronix setup. For now, unless we get an Indian Summer, she's blissfully parked for the season....sigh.....
