Sounds like you got water in your foam flotation. I assume the boat has
spent some time outdoors and was subject to rain and snow gathering in the
hull. You will have to snoop around and maybe drill some observation holes
in the deck in a hidden area where you think there might be water under the
deck - soggy foam or water on the drill bit gives you your answer- don't
drill through the hull. You can trace that trail of water and maybe discover
its origin (a hole or crack) or maybe there is a cavity somewhere in the
hull that is collecting water. A new floor is fairly easy to construct but
is laborious. You might remove several of the long bolts in the bilge area
that attach the motor mounts to the stringers under the floor to see if they
have much rust or water. Good luck with it. TK
