Check out the Progressive web site for a quote. Since I've discovered that you can insure old boats for Agreed Value. Surprisingly, it doesn't cost much more to add Comprehensive and Collision, onto a basic liability package.
I've always wanted good liability coverage, as I am frequently doing watersports with others on my boat.

I carried liability on my Bayliner for the 7 years I had it. It ran about $90 a year with Statefarm. Given my experiences on the lake I sometimes question if even that was necessary. I never got close enough to other boats or property to worry about inflicting damage. Anyway, I've not insured the Evinrude yet as I've barely had it in the water.

Lee,
I don't currently carry any insurance on my boat...I had inquired a few years ago with my old OMC boat and was discouraged by my agent...said it wasn't worth enough to pay the insurance on.

I've always enjoyed taking plant tours. I did the Ford Rouge Tour in 2007 and have visited many other plants in Canada and the UK.
Re-powering with OMC gear is still the best option in my opinion, especially for our boats.
On another topic, have any of you insured your boats? I've been thinking of switching from State Farm to Progressive.

I took my son to the BMW plant in Greer SC for a tour. First off it is a first class operation there - I do not drive a BMW cause they don't tow boats. My son has one and loves it. They have a minimuseum there on the floor with the usual lineage of cars and racers but what caught my eye was the BMW stern drive that went into production years ago. A massive beauty - I did not think to get the specs - I remember something like 130 HP and they made a couple thousand hoping to penetrate into the US market. I searched ebay and there is nothing like parts or units. It would fit my Rogue but looks heavy and maybe underpowered. The plant is not union and they have been there 15 years and are expanding and have some pretty good stats. Maybe the future is not so bad.
Well we are in the dead of winter - too cold to boat or even work on the boat unless you are fortunate to have an indoor shop with heat. Won't be long till boating season is back. Happy New Year to all. TK
