The other thing I've had good luck with are the standard cover supports.
You can buy kits that include slats of wood roughly 2" (51 cm for you EU
folks) wide, mounts to fix them to each side of the boat and an adjustable
spring-loaded cleat to adjust the width of the slats. I've been using them
for 20+ years and it literally takes me less than a minute to fix both slats
on the boat and tie them into position (so they don't tilt for or aft).
