Get you a SELOC manual first. You will need it cause you will find yourself
doing most of your repairs which is really not too bad. If you want to get
serious with repairs then get an OMC service manual and parts list for that
year outdrive. Ebay or this site is a good source. Check the firing system.
Do the easy stuff like look for a loose or corroded wire around the
distributor, coil, ballast etc. Then get into the harder stuff like replace
the points, condenser etc. Now is a good time to tune up anyway - assuming
you are starting your boating season like we all will this spring. Tom K.

i had that problem last summer due to wrong distributor. probably not
what your experiencing though. Check coil, or just spend the $30
and replace. Not sure beyond that.
