Unfortunately I’ve experienced that myself around Seattle even though there are boat repair shops all over the place. It could be that the mechanics are simply not familiar with these old boats and are unwilling to take a risk giving the customer a large repair bill. Before my impeller even had a chance to fail, I was told that best thing would be to ditch the old 4 Bolt Outdrive and replace it with a 5 Bolt model. Better design and easier to get parts for. I agree with Tom tho, the Seloc manuals are a must have and you can easily find them online. If you can’t do the tuneup yourself, find a good local mechanic that knows engines and they should be able to at least tune it up for ya. Hope this helps.
