Be careful assuming that. When working in the motorcycle business,
part of my job was doing insurance estimates on damaged bikes. NO
insurance agency that I know of will cover a vehicle under homeowners
with the exception of things like mowers and tractors. The rule of
thumb one agent gave me was that any vehicle they have a special
policy to insure, wouldn't be covered under homeowners. Not only would
it not be covered for liability, but if it's in your garage and your
house burns down, it wouldn't be covered then either. I checked with
my agent (State Farm) and sure enough, no coverage on any of the
motorcycles in my garage. Or the boat in the yard. Check and double
check that yours covered, ask to see it in writing. Because I've dealt
with lots of people who assumed they were covered, and weren't. Some
agents don't know for sure, and when you ask, they just assume you're
covered. It gets sticky when you've spent years assuming you were
covered then find you're not when you need the coverage.
