I'm also using an electric pump. I don't recall the part number, but I
believe it just the standard "Holley Red" pump (7 psi, 70-90 gph), with a
regulator after it (not sure the part number on that, or whether it is
really required). These are $110 new, or $130 if you buy the Marine-Rated
version (which you should).

I get instant starts and never any reliability problems. Mine is just
wired (fused) to the "Key Run" circuit, so it's on even if the engine
hasn't been started yet - a little annoying but it's a good reminder not to
leave the key on (I've thought of putting in one of those safety circuits
so it only runs when the engine is cranking or has oil pressure, but I'd
probably just ruin my battery by leaving the key on then).

My boat came with this electric pump installed and a "blanking plate"
covering the hole in the crankcase where the original mechanical pump was
installed. For a while I was obsessed with restoring everything to stock
condition and I picked up a used mechanical pump for ~$10 plus shipping on
ebay, but I never installed it or tested it. My notes sshow that a Sierra
18-7278 is the proper pump for this engine - these list for $150ish, so you
can probably find one for less if you look long enough.

If the 150 hp engine is a 225 cubic engine Buick/Kaiser/GM/OMC block, then
I would guess it'd use the same parts as the 155 hp, but no guarantees
there.
